Katie, a freelance video editor in dire need of work, receives a high-paying offer from an anonymous employer to edit a mysterious and bizarre video. Cash-strapped and facing eviction, Katie eagerly accepts the gig. The video features people being tortured and even murdered on camera—really just an elaborately staged fantasy. But when her first job leads to an even more lucrative job and a disturbingly realistic series of smell films, Katie’s life begins to unravel. Strange figures haunt her apartment, terrifying nightmares keep her awake, and a mysterious illness afflicts her cat. It’s only when Katie finally decides to quit her job that she discovers just how cruel her anonymous employer really is, and how hard she’ll try to get out of the contract.
